The Govt. of Assam will begin the appointment process for over 7000 lower primary and upper primary teachers from August 27.
The same was announced by the Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today in a press meet.
On 27th August, the state government will be hosting a programme at Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra to hand over the appointment letters of the Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) school teachers who have already cleared the TET exams.
Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also stated that the govt. will issue the advertisement for the post of 7440 high school teacher in the first week of September.
Though it is a great news, the B.Ed final year students of Gauhati University are not happy with this initiative of the govt. of Assam.
Because most of the B.Ed final year students also have cleared LP, UP and High School TET. But due to the COVID‑19 pandemic, the B.ed final year examination has been postponed, as a result, the final year students won’t be able to apply for these posts, which is definitely an injustice for them.
Tezpur University has already conducted an online examination for B.Ed final year students. So they will be able to apply for these posts.
But in their case, Gauhati University has not issued any notification regarding examination yet.
Therefore they are requesting Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma sir with folded hand to consider one of our following demands-
- Postpone the High school Teacher appointment process until the B.Ed final examination is over or
- Give final year students an equal chance to apply for these posts.
